NHL 2017/18 Predictions

It’s that time of year again; hockey season.

Every team starts with a blank slate in the quest for the Stanley Cup.

However, there is a time where the strong have to be separated from the weak. So, let’s get to the chase. Here are my predictions for this hockey season.

Atlantic Division

  1. Tampa Bay Lightning
  2. Toronto Maple Leafs
  3. Ottawa Senators
  4. Montreal Canadiens (Wild Card #2)
  5. Boston Bruins
  6. Buffalo Sabres
  7. Detroit Red Wings
  8. Florida Panthers

Metropolitan Division

  1. Pittsburgh Penguins
  2. Washington Capitals
  3. Columbus Blue Jackets
  4. New York Rangers (Wild Card #1)
  5. New York Islanders
  6. Carolina Hurricanes
  7. Philadelphia Flyers
  8. New Jersey Devils

Pacific Division

  1. Edmonton Oilers
  2. Anaheim Ducks
  3. Calgary Flames
  4. San Jose Sharks (Wild Card #2)
  5. LA Kings
  6. Arizona Coyotes
  7. Vegas Golden Knights
  8. Vancouver Canucks

Central Division

  1. Dallas Stars
  2. Chicago Blackhawks
  3. Nashville Predators
  4. St. Louis Blues (Wild Card #1)
  5. Winnipeg Jets
  6. Minnesota Wild
  7. Colorado Avalanche

There were some tough omissions in my predictions for the year, such as the Winnipeg Jets and New York Islanders. I believe both these teams are missing that one piece to put themselves on the verge of playoff contention.

In a future blog post, I will discuss the one player of each team that will make or break their respective teams’ success for the 2017-18 season.
